Paige Watts is the ultimate stage mother. The daughter of Hollywood royalty, Paige channels her own acting dreams into making her daughter, Emma, a star. By the age of nine, Emma is playing a central role in a hit TV show. Then everything is shattered by unforeseeable tragedy.

Now, Emma is living with her Aunt Whitney, who had chosen a very different path from her sister's. Whitney was always the studious older sister, hating the cult of celebrity that enveloped their childhood. Instead, she is a psychiatrist who lives for her work and enjoys a no-strings-attached love affair with a wealthy venture capitalist. But at a moment's notice, Whitney drops everything to help her niece.

Once famous, outgoing, and charismatic, Emma is now a shadow of her former self - without speech, without memory, lost and terrified. But with her Aunt Whitney's help, along with a team of caregivers and doctors, Emma begins to find her way, starting her young life all over again - and changing the lives of everyone around her.

Emotionally gripping and richly involving, Silent Night explores how the heart has mysterious healing powers of its own and how blessings happen when we think all is lost.

"Silent Night by Danielle Steel is a very emotional story. Paige and Whitney were the daughters of a famous Hollywood couple. Whitney wanted nothing to do with that life and became a psychiatrist. When Paige realized she did not have what it took to be an actress she lived her dreams through her very young daughter.

Because of her parents marriage Whitney wanted nothing to do a commitment of any kind. Her father had controlled every aspect of her mothers life right down to how she wore her hair and how she dressed. She was very happy with the relationship she had with Chad. They were lovers more than anything. He no more wanted a commitment or children than she did. One day they were on his boat in Italy when she got the call that would alter the rest of her life. Her sister Paige had been killed in a car accident and her daughter Emma was seriously injured. Whitney dropped everything and returned home to be at Emma's side.

Chad could not understand why Whitney would change her life for a child that was not hers. Whitney was with Emma throught this long journey. When Emma woke up after being in a coma for two months she could not hear, nor see and she spoke only in a garbled talk that no one could understand. Whitney became close with Emma's doctors. Amy and Bailey also became her friends and along the way Bailey became more.

Emma was left from the accident with a traumatic brain injury. Whitney went above and beyond to help Emma get back to herself and recover the memories she had lost. Now you will have to read the book to find out all that happened . This was a very emotional story and dealt with a sensitive subject that was well handled. Once I started reading I could not put the book down. Yes I found it that good. I loved every minute of it and sometimes it was through tears. But the ending made it all worth while."

Silent Night Audible Audio Edition Danielle Steel Jim Frangione Recorded Books Books Reviews

  • I chose t star because 10 wasn't available. I have read everyone of your books, some more than once. I am amazed that you come up with great stories with great characters time after time. I am 95 years old and my family is planning my 100 birthday party, please keep writing so I can continue enjoying your books until then and maybe after. Good health, happiness and many more stories. Just you this is the first time I have written a review.

  • 4 1/2 STARS!

Gut-wrenching & raw! With her latest novel, Danielle Steel quickly takes us into the heart of a mother who pushes her young star to be all that she can be ... and more. When tragedy strikes and life as she knows it disappears, that young girl must learn to depend on the beloved aunt who is willing to move the ends of the earth to help her be able to truly live again. The story is fast paced and attention grabbing from page one. I might have liked to get a deeper connection to Paige and had a little more depth to the romance blooming, but overall, an outstanding story of courage and determination!

Psychiatrist Whitney Watts has no idea as she's traveling towards a luxurious vacation with her wealthy lover that her life is about to change irrevocably. Born into Hollywood legacy, she's always preferred to live in her own low-key bubble instead of partaking in the limelight the rest of her family always craved.

One phone call changes her fate. There's been a horrible accident. Her sister Paige is no longer able to be the world's biggest stage mom to her talented 9 year old niece Emma. And Emma's world has just been silenced. With no memory or ability to do everyday things, this child's suddenly living in a big scary world of dark abyss.

With a mindset of love and determination, Whitney sets out to work with anyone and everyone in order to give her niece some semblance of a life again. She's willing to give up everything to make sure that little girl comes out of this as a whole person again. With months of losses blooming into newfound freedoms, friendships and more this duo turns the corner into a world of brighter days!
  • This book gets into childhood head injuries and how they can effect a child. As usual, I was thrilled with the storyline. Danielle Steel always does a great job with her stories. Once I started reading it I did not want to put it down.
  • The plot was really amazing and very informative not only did I get lost in the story line but learned a thing or two about brain injuries.it was done in such a way that you were not even aware of it until the info already had been processed and done so humanly with feelings and emotions to sort through.great storyline, plot, characters, and a definite feel good book
  • Excellent book, loved the subject and all the characters. Would love this to be a TV movie. Looking forward to the next book .
  • I loved the whole book. Easy read but flew by too fast! Highly recommend!! Hope you enjoy as much as i did. Best Danielle Steele I've read in a while. Always love her work even though it's often a little repetitive.
  • Very interesting book. I give her five stars most always. I think the author has gotten better over the years. They are so different from when I first started reading her books. I think others who I knew that read her books felt the same. They should go back and cat h up as I am doing. They will enjoy them as well as I have.
